Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device

It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
